Reflections on Mr. Barack H. Obama's Historic and Successful 2008 Presidential Campaign

Congratulations to Mr. Barack H. Obama

*As a point of clarity, when he takes the Oath of Office on Jan. 20, 2009, Mr. Obama will become the 44th President of the United States of America. Technically, GWB (Guns, War and Bloodshed a.k.a George W. Bush) remains President of the United States until that date.

One of my personal historic moments from the Obama campaign.

Here are some photos I took of President-elect Barack H. Obama on July 15, 2007. He spoke at the Vernon Park Church of God on the South Side of Chicago and afterwards, held a press conference.

At the time, he was trailing Sen. Hillary Clinton in the polls. For the most part, many (including the mainstream media) had bought into the "inevitability" narrative advanced by the Clinton campaign.

The reality of the matter was that his campaign had just begun to pick up steam. In fact, the Obama campaign had just announced a couple of weeks earlier on July 1 that his campaign raised $33 million during the second quarter of 2007, compared to $27 million for Clinton.

Sen. Obama was circumspect and pragmatic in his approach to many of the politically nuanced issues emerging as the main topics of the presidential election for both Democrats and Republicans. As the members of the press asked him questions, he was composed and clearly articulated his views.

Concerning the War on Iraq he said:

"There are no good options in Iraq at this point. There are bad options and worse options. I think the worst option would be to perpetuate our current military occupation there having our troops on the ground. They have become a magnet for terrorist activity, they are fanning the flames of anti-American sentiment and they are taking pressure off the Iraqi factions to come together and arrive at a peaceful accord."

Now, with an overwhelming landslide victory in the Electoral College, a healthy majority of the popular vote, a Democratic majority in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, he should have the opportunity to make his vision a reality.

I have to say that what I witnessed on November 4, 2008 was one of the most profound experiences of my lifetime since the Million Man March. All of what our foreparents worked and died for came into fruition on that day. My children were proud and have never been interested in any area of politics until Bro. Barack too a stand and entered this race for the presidency. They followed this race up until Election Day and would not sleep until he was announced the winner.

I truly believe he is a man who is an excellent representation of what America is truly about and he can help the ails of the Nation (with God's help) and take the necessary steps to repair the damage of the former administration.

He understands the problems of both whites and blacks. He is the vessel that God is using to bring about universal changes for all people in this country.

It is a proud day in history for me and the world. Americans have spoken and we must all do our part to help President Obama starting with our own communities. We must hold him accountable, as well as ourselves, for making real changes.

We must begin the healing process and it starts today with God working in us and in Presidential Elect Barack Hussein Obama, our 44th President of the United States of America. Thank you.

I think you are a wonderful writer Bro. Ashahed, may GOD continue to bless you. Regarding Elected President Barack Obama, I believe he is sincere person. But, just a few of my lessor concerns: The out of the blue, "love frenzy" the white media have with Bro. Barack; 282 newspapers endorsed Obama vs. 152 for McCain; raising 3/4 billion dollars for his presidential campaign. Where's this generating from? I believe this a strategy to thwart the progress and direction of the NOI? Regardless, THE GOD is in control.

Greetings,
Nov. 4, 2008 truly was a great day. It was a week to remember and certainly one of the most thrilling in my life. I really appreciate some of the commentary on these Final Call blogs because it shows the true grass-roots and innovative nature of the Obama Campaign that we didn't see on mainstream TV news. Being Kenyan and being a citizen of this country, I am rendered speechless and inspired. Keep up the good work. Peace
